Overhead Console/Ledge

I have my headliner torn apart and I was thinking of possibly putting in a ledge/console overhead. Enough for maybe a small radioshack CB, buttons or switches too..... Has anyone ever seen one of these in a 55? pics if any......

I am 6'5" and I wonder if that would just take to much away, besides bruising the old melon if I go over a bump unexpectedly and hit the console....

As my headliner is rotting out too, I've been thinking about something similar. I don't have anything to offer other than I know one other member was talking about just putting up some carpet and making up a bungee system so he could stow blankets, jackets and other such emergency items up above.
