Whats with the notched out bumperettes?

Beautiful.![]()

That's what came with the vehicle. It had been used to tow a caravan and had a roof bars for a boat on top so they may have been cut to make step. I have two without the cut outs painted and ready to go on but the tow hitch will have to go.Awesome rig! Whats with the notched out bumperettes?
The ride is harsh, the tires are old and hard and will need replacing soon.very impressive, how's the ride?

My problem is I have two adult age kids who both want the Old Girl when I go to the wreckers yard in the sky. They have been reading the posts and are amazed by the great comments.Beautiful!!!!!
And another old-bastard owner ... since no-one can be YOUNG and own the same vehicle for 39 years!
And suffering a severe case of OCD .... judging from the high upkeep standard of this early model!
And from my part of the world too!
But there's a problem with your username.... I feel awkward calling you "Old Girl".
>>>> but anyway .... Welcome Old Girl....

The color is green. You could have any colour as long as it was green in the 60's and 70's.Really a nice truck there. Is that color Heath Grey? Very nicely kept!

They are just pressings in the metal.Yes, very beautiful! High drool-factor there.
What are the two raised rectangles on either side of the vent below the windshield for?
The YouTube stuff is great. The rear bumpers were painted the same color as the front bumper. When I bought it it had been repainted and parts that should be the platinum were painted grey. I was working in Tamworth NSW in the 1985 and made a point to visit Geoff Coutman. He was a Toyota truck dealer for the area and knew Cruisers. He looked at the Old Girl and said they are painted the wrong colour. Take them off and we will respray them. Off came the grill, the glove box door, instrument panel. So I know these are painted the correct color. I came home with a truck full of parts including the correct lens for the back and two complete front doors including glass and rubbers. One day they will be fitted.Did you paint the new ones the same color as the body?
