I hate scraping the windshiled in the morning and now that cold weather is upon us I'd like to install a remote start kit in my truck. I'm interested in a unit that is compatable with my current alarm/door lock systm (OEM) so that it just replaces the existing fob instead of adding something new to my key chain.
Anyone have any experience with adding one of these aftermarket units to a GM? The truck's an '03 Silverado 1500HD with an automatic. Looking for an easy 2-banana install, too. My automotive electrical experience is very limited...

I bought one for the wife`s Blazer, never installed it,sold her truck.I`ve got to get the remote for my truck as it didn`t come with the truck.Going to put it in as soon as I get them. It`s a Design Tech International,model#20022.Lots of wires but looks straight forward enough. How was the wheeling?

Thanks for the info, David. I'm still compiling research data on the 'best' all-around remote start unit to install.
The wheeling? It was awesome, but when isn't it? In our group was my 40, an 80, three taco's (one superharged), one FJC (lifted on 35's and fully armored), and Gary Schumach in his 55. We wheeled blues and blue/blacks all day and covered most of the park which was the busiest I've ever seen it. May have had something to do with the amature rock crawling event taking place the same day?
Anyway, the weather was brisk but tolerable (29 degrees when I got up Sat morning) and not much warmer for the meeting that followed a day in the woods. The snow had all but melted by 1pm so things were a bit muddy in the afternoon.
I'm not sure I'm ready to put the 40 away for winter yet...

At first I thought the title was Jack s***, but then I realized that mls doesn't know Jack s*** :flipoff2:

I've had 3 of those remote starters. 2 Vipers and 1 Valet. All worked pretty well.

Your age is showin Mike.
