Heah, Marlin calls it a T-Case Saver and it bolts onto the top and back of the case at a 90 degree angle...heck, I don't know how for sure, but I'll try to post the pic from Marlins site. If most damage is to the bottom of the case anyway, this piece won't help. It looks like its mostly to keep the outer housing from cracking due to internal pressures?? Take a look at the attachment and see if ya think something like this is worth it? Has anyone ever blown a t/case from the inside out due to too much force from low gears?

The shocks from the bottom weakens it progressively, and finally you torque it in half, splitting right down the center (effectively thru the idler gear section). My t-case saver from Don Amway is very similar to that, at least the top portion and how it ties into one of the 5 t-case mount bolts.

IMO, great idea, a must buy item.

Thanks Woody...glad to hear it is an effective piece (in theory anyway). Problem is, this ToyBox swap is getting more and more expensive as the 'necessary' parts list grows :P Midas well suck it up and do it right the first time and save myself a bunch of :bust: :bust2:

You do know that this will probably increase your chances of :bust: :bust2:
Right???

...the rockbox adds about 6" (basically the same amount as the marlin)[/quote]

The toybox is 5" and the Marlin is exactly 6 3/4". That is a lot of difference. With SBC you don't even take out the rear crossmember. 8)

Mace...if your referring to more potential for :bust2: :bust: by going with lower gears e.g. Toybox, then yes, I'm aware of the risks. But if your suggesting that adding a Marlin T/Case saver is going to actually increase my chances of breakage, then I need some further help understanding that one :o And maybe its just because its Friday night and I'm feeling nit picky, but Hammerhead, you ment Rock Box, not Toybox in your quote "The toybox is 5" and the Marlin is exactly 6 3/4"...right? I probably should read or post after 'discussing' with MGD, but it is Friday night ;)

scott - right you are. I did mean Rockbox is only 5" long. It was almost 2 o'clock in the morning when I wrote that. I was up with my two year old son who broke his arm and couldn't sleep. I didn't get much sleep either.

Mace actually means your odd of breaking a birf increase because of the torque multiplication from the added t-case. SpaceGhost had little breakage in the 2002 EROCC series with one t-case and the SM420....2003, he was broke more than working in part because the double t-case put that much added power to the wheels. 2004 outta be no problem tho with those new RockCrushers 60's.

If yoy look at the marlin tcase saver in the pic it is designed to use the toybox too...

great i cant sat enough for the marlin i have and use all the time for the price go for it.
