I was a Toyota guy from 1969 - 1983. One thing you should realize is 'factory' then might have had some variability. Vehicles were sometimes ding'd a little in transit ( early ships were actually freighters and the vehicles were loaded one at a time by cranes lifting them into and out of the holds). Minor repairs were done at the port facilities to bring the vehicles back to new vehicle specs. Damage rates declined dramatically as Toyota began to use specialized drive on and drive off ships - Maru s. I ave a 1971 FJ 55 with Nippondenso AC while it was considered 'factory' all AC units were installed at the ports or at the Dealer.

Cool beans thanks for the info - I have a 74 - looking into I am going to media blast the the hinges or leaving them the upper color of the truck - but I want to make sure my efforts are not in vain. I really would like to make my 55 a very correct vehicle.

Interesting and thanks how about tge door lock mechanism that protrudes from the door??
