Options to hear a CB?

I finally got a CB installed. it's a Midland with a firestick antenna. I also bought an external speaker with noise reduction. Anyway, on the first trip out I was dissapointed. The volume was maxed adn I could bearely hear anything, with or without the external speaker.

Since it's an 8 ohm output I can't just hook up headphones... Any suggestions so I can hear other people talking?

It's probably against the law to wear headphones while diving anyway.
Where is the external speaker mounted?

This is where I have mine it works well even open top at highway speeds with my Super swampers roaring.

You might also look for an amplified speaker.

I have my speaker mounted to the roll bar between the seats. So far I have not found any amplified speakers. That's why I posted up here... Maybe someone else has had the same issue and resolved it.

The speaker I bought doesn't have an external jack port like some do (didn't know that existed when I bought it). I may buy one of those just so I can plug in head phones on the trail. I don't use the CB on the road anyway. The downside is that I am deaf in my right ear which means if I have a head phone on I can't hear my passenger. I tried the speaker right behind my right ear and it's still not lound enough to be heard over the sound of the engine, etc.

Seems I have been using the wrong search terms...

Found an "amplified" CB speaker. Have it on order. Hope it will do the trick.

This doesn't make much sense. Your CBs audio, unless something is wrong, should be plenty loud with our without the speaker. Maybe should take to shop and have it looked at.

Part of the problem is the mounting location. It's in between the front seats right above my t-case. The speaker in the CB points under my seat. I'll mount it over head when I get a cage late next year. In the mean time I need to be able to hear...
