Did you all study from the tests in the back of the book?
Did you guyz really read the book?
What were the test questions like?
Ive read just under half of it, and its DRRRRRY READING!
The only thing that is amusing about it is how EXCITED the author is about the topic and trying to promote how COOL this stuff is.

Im not gonna be trying to bounce signals off the tails of meteorites or anything, I just wanna have it for the trail...

How in depth do I have to go?

thanks,

Keith

Yes you wanna read the book but if you go to QRZ.com there is a practice test area in that web site so you can practice there as well to break up th boringness of the book. sorry bud but your gonna have to hang in there once its done though the license is good for 10 years so thats a big plus

I didn't read the book per se. I read the questions and the exlination of the questions until I could pass the practice tests on line. The test isn't very hard, it just takes a little time.

I didnt know you could read.:hillbilly:

Now see, if you read the book, you too will want to fully embrace the geekness. Just think of all of the good and cool stuff you can do with your new radio and all of the cool people you can meet with it.:bounce:

I read the book and pretty much wanted to step in front of a bus. QRZ.com is your friend. The practice tests are great. You can take as many as you want and as many times as you want. The test is easy. I don't remember half of the stuff on the test.

After the test and you get your license, I think it is important to remember the basic rules and some of the basic radio stuff, anything more is more for the people that really get into the whole radio lifestyle.

You know unless you really want to become a radio god.:grinpimp:

From a practical point of view, just take the on-line test until you can pass all of them.

QRZ.com Practice testing

I really doubt that any of us will be doing much more than chatting on the trail.
So in the Real World™ all you really need to know the basic rules.

Please leave the Hardcore Geekyness to the trained professionals. :grinpimp:

Thanks,
QRZ is the shizz then hu.
Ive been choking down the book and I too wanted to hang myself.
Nursing school was more exciting reading material than that.

I appreciate the advice and Im gonna start chipping away.
