Is the OME really worth all that extra money ?

hell, I can have the complete Smokey Kit installed and buy a set of BFG's and go out for dinner for the OME money.

I think it depends on the kind of wheeling you plan to do, how long you plan to keep the truck etc. I can say I'm very impressed with the quality of arb items for production stuff. I think the ride is very good if it's the type of ride your looking for. I've had 2 different trucks with OME. It's hard to beat 789 and a set of tires even if they are bfg and some dinner....Talk to Kurt at cruiser outfitters, good guy.

I have the 1st. generation TPI Smoky Mt. 2.5" kit on my '72 FJ40. I love the kit, it has not sagged or given me any problems in the ~5 years I have owned and wheeled the piss out of it.

**One caveat to my kit is that it is a 1st. gen kit. Bob said that the springs were made just a bit too short and thusly my shackles are mostly straight up and down and not angled slightly out. It's not too big a deal, but I'd like them to angle more out for a little better ride. The current production springs are the 2nd generation springs that are supposedly a bit longer to cure this problem. I couldn't get Bob to do anything for me on an exchange when I found this out from him. FYI.

I'm still happy with my springs and the value I received. Bob says that they were designed after the OME "medium" springs. They have the flat spot in the middle like OME and the same type of wraps. The choice was easy for me. Oh, and the Black Diamond shocks ROCK!! Perfect valving for off-road and FJ40s.

I don't think you could go wrong with the TPI kit. Go get those BFG's while you're at it

I just can't justifiy all that $$$ for the OME, I am sure it is good or possibly better but how much......$850.00 more........hmmmmmmm !!

I paid less than 1K for my OME suspension way back then, I really like the rides, it was pretty comfortable. The truck is running spring-over with stock springs now but I do save the old OME springs if I ever want to run even bigger tires (37"). I would recommend OME but make sure that you get that anti-inverted shackles.

Well, from what Outback says.. that's part of the cost difference... OME is tried and true on cruisers the world over for many many years.

Whoa.. noticing your cruiser I wouldn't settle for anything but the best. I'd go with OME.. Probably be happier in the long run

The TPI smokey mt is a great value. I have installed at least 15 in the past year. No, it is not as good as OME but you really will see the difference after 40,000 miles, not off the bat. Save your money and get the TPI kit. BTW: I am a TPI dealer...........

40k before it feels good? Yikes that's alot of miles. For someone like me that drives the cruiser on weekends it's be years before I got to 40k

Yes, the kit is complete. Everything arrived and was of very good quality. The anti-inversion shackles are superb in quality. I could hardly tell them apart from OME shackles.

I'm considering their 4" springs for Buddy now that I have 33x12.50's. I'd buy from them again.
