On a 861/862 (stock height) OME install, will a 21" jack stand be tall enough ? If not, I'm in trouble as my floor jack only goes that high !

I do have spring compressors, but would prefer not to have to break those out.

Thx.

I would be surprised if it wouldn't work. I dont know the height limits of the ones I used, but they were pretty much the run of the mill decent floor jack and stands. I installed my OME med springs and shocks without issue. Research the methods and take a look at Slee's install guide for the install if you haven't already. If you follow the steps you will more than likely have zero issues. Using a bottle jack if installing by yourself helps... (axle to frame). Spring compressors may come in a bit of use. I didn't use any, but managed to do it.

Good luck :)

I didn't use any spring compressors for the medium kits. Another set of hands would be helpful but with a little extra effort you can do it alone. Slee's guide is very help fully.

Jack up truck on axle all the way, place stands under frame, remove wheels, bottom shock mount, and I removed the sway bar at the outer link points, lower axle. Swap springs, you should be fine.

You will need tall stands. 21" wont be enough. Get 12 ton stands.. Most go to 27-28".

I did my OME's following slee's guide. Too easy. Half a bannana at best

Slee - OME Suspension Installation (Toyota 80 Series Land Cruiser)

When I pushed the axle down on one side I used a block under the knuckle so that when it hit the block the brakes just cleared the floor. Getting the longer springs in needs more room than getting the old out.

This is exactly what I did and worked fine. I did attempted to use spring compressors at first thinking I might be able to do it without removing the bottom of the shock but quickly ran into space issues to get the spring and compressor out. Dropped the bottom of the shock and sway bar and it was rather easy after that. I think you'd be fine with 21" jackstands under the frame with the stock OME springs. Worked fine for me anyways.

I'd get atleast a pair of the larger stands. I liked the safety margin of the much wider base. I cant remember just exactly how far out I had them adjusted. Just that the roof of the truck was close to the ceiling of the garage and my front brake rotor was just above the slab when I slid the new springs in front.

because of the offset pumpkin on the rear axle it was not easy to jack the rear up and keep it level with the floor jack.. I was also wanting to test my new high lift. So I used the high lift to lift the rear.. Worked great.

Super90,

I also have the 861/862 with Bilstein shocks waiting to be installed. Do you want to make it a installation party? I'm in Plano/Irving.
