I have a new set of OME 2720 rear springs I bought for the extra load carrying capacity. My goal was to maintain a zero or 1" lift. Down the road as I continue to add weight I will change to an upgraded full suspension, but for now my camping loadout includes an extra 300-400 lbs of gear in the back and on the roof -> full-ish ARB drawers, fridge, food/dry goods box, misc camping gear, Oztent RV5, Yakima SkyBox 16, water (5 gal jerry), fuel (4 gal Rotopax).

Down the road I am planning on adding AT tires (275/70R18 or 275/65R18 most likely), skid plates and roof rack.

Before I spend the few hours swapping these springs in, I wanted to get the MUD opinion on how this setup would behave. Factory shocks and front springs. 2013 w/ 65k miles. I am ok with adding the Toyota front spacer to level things out if necessary.

I know @arich runs the 2720 and seems to like them other than the initial unloaded progressive stage. But he also has the BP-51 which I don't have.

Should I bother changing the springs or just run the factory suspension in rear-droop mode for now and save my pennies for a full suspension?

Appreciate the input.

Did you ever do this? I'm thinking of the same thing for towing my boat. The original springs sag pretty bad with 500-600 extra pounds on the hitch.

No I haven't had time. Springs are still in the box in the garage.

I am running the 2720 Rear+10mm spacer and the 2702 Front. I don't carry a lot of weight on a daily basis, maybe 40-50 lbs in a toolbox back there. The springs are easy to swap. I'd put them in, personally. I did mine three different times (stock to 2722, then 2722 to 2720, then added the spacer.)

Good to know. I know swapping rear springs on the 80 and 100 was easy, I just heard that the 200 was a lot more involved.

How do you like the 2720 springs? Are you using the stock shocks?

The ride is fine and I am running OME shocks. Flex is good. The ride in general is a bit wallowing in these things, so better suspension might be a good option.

Why did you go from a longer spring to shorter with a spacer?

Do you think those springs all ride quite a bit firmer than stock? Is it still comfortable?

I used to have a 4runner and did the Icon springs and it was a little much.

The longer spring gave it too much stink bug (rake) when unloaded. And they are stiff enough that they wouldn't level out with the loads I carry. So I went to the softer spring but it did not have enough rake. The spacer got the ride height about level (slightly up in back). They don't sag much as they load - I tow a 19ft speed boat sometimes and the tongue weight doesn't cause the rear end to sag lower then level.

Honestly, I would prefer a slightly thicker spacer - 20mm would be about right.
