 Ok Here it is...I finally got around to putting on my lift that has been sitting in the garage for a couple months. I went with the OME 2.5" Heavy/Med lift. 850 (heavy) springs on the front and the 860 (med) springs on the rear. Everything went on really easy. The only trouble I had was with the nut on the top of the shock on the DS that is under the master cylinder. My advice here is to not worry about trying ot get it off with any "special tools" or wrenches. I took my dremel tool and a cut-off wheel and cut the nut off. Allot less headeache to do it like that than try to actually get it off with a socket or wrench. Nothing is re-used anyway so cut the thing off and move on.... I used allot of PB Blaster on the existing bolts and nuts and everything came apart and went back together very easy. As others here have suggested, I used a tie-rod seperator (pickle fork) n my steering stabilizer and it popped apart with just a few blows with a 3 lb hammer.
The ride is much better than it was with the old stock shocks and springs. I have noticed no differences or problems with handling or steering so far.
So I could get a wider stance and not look like it had "chicken legs", I also put on 1 1/4" wheel spacers. They set the tires out even with the fenders for a beefier look.

Ok..... on to the next mods......whatever they may be.......

Comments and suggestion welcomed......... Oh here are some pics too... The first is the before and then after pics....

I also meant to say that although they call it a 2.5" lift, I got a full 3" out of it. I'm sure it will probably settle some but still more than I thought it would be.

And a couple more......

Yes.... I know I need some tires on it. I am currently taking donations towards the tire fund if anyone here wants to donate!

This is the lift I'm looking at installing. How does the ride compare to the stock springs? Nice looking rig you have there. I'm planning on the ARB & Warn 12k winch and moving my spare to the rear bumper setup. Your lift seems like it would work well in this respect. What size tires are you planning on?

Looks good, I'm probably going to have to move to heavies in the front too.

Thats the combo that Im running...I like it alot...handles good.

Looks very nice and welcome to the 850/860 OME club!

That looks great! I want to do the exact thing to my LC!

Thanks for the pictures!

How long did it take you?

Looks Good. What size tires do you have on there now?

It took me about Six hours :bang: to do mine. Mind you this was the first big car mechanical work I've done. Dont have any pics before hand but was similar to Peytonkristen before shot. I think the ride is supperior to that of stock.

I think I am going to go with some 295 or 33" tires, I just haven't decided which ones yet.

I am about a  wrench so it took me longer than it would most people on here. I spent 4 1/2 hrs on it from start to finish. But that also included some  breaks and other interruptions. This is definitely not a difficult job.

Looks good. I'll be doing the same job soon. You seem to have a thing for white trucks..

Actually, that is my only white one. The pics were taken at a buddies house and he has 3 white vehicles.....?......

My tires are stock size 275 right now. I can't wait to put some 33s on it. I'll get 2 more inches of lift with the tires. Almost more than I want.

33'S and mediums are the ticket IMHO, I have not done shocks yet but have no problems with the stock units, might be limiting full flex a bit but not enough for me to worry about for my trail duty, and the caster is a non issue to me; steering feels a bit lighter but stable on the road at speed. the springs are a huge improvement from stock, and with a trailer or heavy load in the back it rides level and smooth.

your rig looks good, I'm also in the white cruiser club:cheers:

Is it necessary to get an alignment after the job is done?

Did you use a spring compressor or just a rachet strap? Did you install the caster correction bushings or leave them stock? I'm getting ready to do this same lift and I'm curious. Thanks.

I used spring compressors. On the rear there is a bracket just in front of the wheel, take that off. this will drop the axle a little more.. I put the compressors on before I lifted the truck so when I did the springs would be compressed.Make sure you leave enough thread to uncompress. I also left stock shocks and castor. The truck rides great, but as people before said, every truck is different. Good luck....

if you have a good bumper (arb, etc) and a cherry picker, there's no need for spring compressors. just disconnect the sway bars and shocks and jack it up. you can angle the springs in and out from there.
