Well here we are six months later and we have decided to make the move. If you see a red FJ80 rolling around Olathe in late July, that's me.

Awesome. Welcome!! - look forward to meeting you and hoping you come out to the annual meeting.

And here we are...another six months have passed. We've closed on a house in southern Olathe, the house is packed and we're getting ready to move to the land of the free. Now...let's talk about fishing. Since there is a lake minutes from the house I want to start going but don't know much about it. I've got a cheap pole but that's about it. I've been finishing, even up in Alaska for reds but always used other people's equipment.

Let me know when you get into the house. We can meet up for a coffee or?? I'm looking for other Cruisers to hang with. I see your post now that you have a house, so ignore my post on another thread from 5 minutes ago.

Welcome to Olathe!

I'm not much of a fisherman, but I can drink beer . .. or coffee.

Hillsdale is a good lake for fishing (I assume that is the lake you are referring to? Or is it Olathe lake?) Use to fish Hillsdale a lot before life got hectic. A lot of good bank fishing if you know where to park. Once you get here and get settled I would be up for some fishing. Let me know.

You're in luck (or maybe not!) but I happen to have a habit for both. I was able to find a KC beer here in CA a few months ago and really liked it (Double Wide IPA) and am looking forward to finding some new local brews. Same goes for Coffee.

Cedar Lake is the one near the house. I'll take you up on some fishing soon.

Thanks! I'd be up for coffee or beer soon.

I remember sitting at "The Girl and the Fig" on the Sonoma square drinking Russian River's Pliney the Younger from the tap and watched someone at the bar order a 750mL bottle of something from Boulevard - - I was dumbfounded.

No real point there other than, I thought they were crazy given that Pliney the Younger is one of the hardest beers to get in the US and one of the most sought after AND it was on tap, but that guy probably was local and was ready for something different :)

Welcome to the area! Looking forward to getting to know another 80 owner (not too many red ones around up here!). Couldn't meet a nicer group of people than the TAC families.

You know guys, I think it's time for another round of brews for the group... posting in the other thread now.

Welcome to KC

It was way too hot today.

I think we are going to try and rent a townhouse for the first year. I have always dreamed of having some land and a barn to work on the Cruiser in. Thanks for the tip, I'll look around Gardner and see what I find.

Here's a stupid question (at least for you all). How often do tornadoes come through? Those things kinda freak me out.

Main thing to remember, don't live immediately Northeast of a trailer court, and Oklahoma always gets hammered during Tornado season, compared to Kansas so stay away from Oklahoma. First thing to do if you spot a tornado, do what everybody else does, get a video camera to film it and then try to be the first on your block to get your footage on the local news. Helps if you can find a toothless dude to give his eyewitness account also.

Seriously, I have lived in Kansas, in and west of the Wichita area and have only seen 2-3 funnel clouds in my life. I think down here in south central Kansas we probably get more tornado warnings than the northern parts of the state. The storms seem to develop out of SW Kansas and North Central Oklahoma for us. You don't need to worry about Tornadoes.
