Also you need to spend the required 2 hours laying under the vehicle looking for other things to do. :flipoff2:

That's a true statement. When I first got my truck I decided to just lay underneath it and check out the engineering of the whole thing. That's when I noticed that the wiring loom on the USPS had broken free of the tape that was holding it to the frame bracket. This resulted in the loom resting next to the front drive shaft. As can be guessed the wiring loom was being gradually shredded by the drive shaft. Luckily I caught it before any of the individual wires in the loom had been ground through. I'd hate to think what would have happened if the drive shaft had actually cut all the way through the wiring.

So there's a lesson here... check all your looms to make sure they haven't broken free into harms way.

If you are a rust-belter, don't forget the host of wonderful additional maintenance items:
1) check emergency brake for free operation
2) check for rust under window seals, particularly rear and rear back, and roof rack and rear deflector. Like cancer, the key is early detection.
3) take a hammer and brass rod and drive out the rust-welded hitch. Clean the rusty receiver hole and hitch and coat with grease and/or WD40.
4) let down the spare, and grease and/or WD40 the winch mechanism. Also check your trailer wiring.
5) Lessee, is that it? Um, pop off the leather t-case lever cover, and dig out $20 worth of gum and booger-covered change. (Ok, I'm really stretching now. And not even Mid-rusterner-specific!)

Oh, and repeat 1-5 annually. :) Do #6 much more often. :D
