Well, I finally got my lower mileage engine in. (3.0 114K a little sludgy I thought maybe because its been sitting) Everything seems to work fine so far. No leaks, fired right up timing was bang on. My problem is the oil pressure light in the dash. When I start up in the morning for the first 5 mins of driving the light goes in and out. As soon as it warms up the light goes out and stay out. When I start it up after sitting at work for 8 hours it might come on for maybe 5 sec. After that it goes out. I kind've regret not changing the oil pump while it was out. Does this sound like the pump or maybe the pressure sensor or loose connection. Oil is full on the dipstick. Thanks.

Most likely, the oil pressure sending unit on the new motor is for a gauge, not an idiot light.
Look at the sending unit and if it is barely wider than the plug, it is an idiot light sending unit, and if it is a large round sending unit "about 2 1/2 " across, then it is a gauge based sending unit.
You need the small one. Your old motor will have the small one that works correctly.

The small one goes to ground if the oil pressure is below 4psi.
The large one goes closer to ground as the pressure increases.
