oil pressure gauge shows 0 at idle...

wifey drives a 99 jeep grand cherokee.

called me at work and said oil presure light came on. said gauge shows 0 pressure at idle. goes up to around 40 when driving, which is normally where it sits when driving.

i am assuming worst case it is the oil pump or the sending unit? maybe best case it is just a bad gauge? i told her to park it and we'll take it in for a look.

anything else it might be? should i be overly concerned?

I'm thinking the late 90's was a bad motor time for heeps. Maybe check some TSB online for it, but if it's got 40 driving that's not bad, so the pump is prolly fine. Leaking or blowing anything?

no leaks at all. makes me think it might be computer/electric bug.

have had some other electrical stuff go wrong with the jeep over the years...

call yer local service dept at the dealership, tell them about it, sometimes they'll nail it right over the phone if it's a common issue.

turned out to be a switch....easy and cheap fix.

thank gawd cause i am broke with all the festivus presents etc.
