Hey friends,
Looking for some insight on a perplexing issue I’m having.
I’m the most recent custodian of a 06 hzj105, transplanted from Ukraine to Canada. While taking care of a few little maintenance issues I’ve discovered that my dipstick tube bracket was broken multiple times from vibration I guess. And also the tip of the dipstick was broken off. So I did the most logical thing I could think to do is buy the oem part number dipstick on Amazon to replace it and repair the bracket when I did my next oil change so I could measure the correct amount of oil. So that’s what I did.
Now I have a brand new dipstick and solid tube and 9.6L of oil in the 1HZ. Then the confusion starts. Stock dipstick, original tube, but it doesn’t touch the oil. So I add a couple extra litres of oil thinking maybe at some point someone erroneously installed an oil pan from a turbo, so now I’m at 12L of oil and it’s just tickling the tip of the dipstick. I don’t feel safe adding any more extra oil.
Anybody ever run into anything like this?

there are different dipsticks that go with different tubes the part numbers have been updated, they need to match. buying from amazon you don't know if you have the real thing or a fake. better to buy from a trusted seller. get a matching tube and stick.

As bussman said amazon is not ideal for OEM. Best bet is to look at amayama, partsouq, yoshiparts, megazip or one of the supporting vendors for OEM stuff.

Most of the OEM things from the sites mentioned are at cost and when compared to local dealerships, blow them out of the water.

Also for what it's worth toyodiy is great for cross referencing parts.

Hope that help
