So do any of you know if you can replace the fuel pump on a 62 without dropping the tank? There's an access hole in the floor that reveals the float (I guess) is the fuel pump directly below that? Can it be removed using that as the access point?

Thoughts?

Right now Bruce has been sitting undriven for close to two months....

Dude, I know that and I posted there - but I thought maybe my local buddies would be able to offer some guidance....

I much prefer sarcasm to be honest - and as it turns out the answer to my question is an unqualified uh maybe.

Actually it sounds like while possible, it is unadvisable (like many things in life). However it sounds like dropping the tank isn't too much of a chore. So hopefully Bruce will be back on the road here in a few days...

The hole is only for the float. You have 2 choices drop the tank or pull the carpet... take off the float cover ...then take a cutoff wheel and cut to your right 5 inches...or enough to clear.

Well it's to late for that - I've now discovered that the hard line from the fuel pump had pretty much rotted into nothingness and it decided to snap off! Sooooooo.....

You can read about my woes in the 60 section, but the long and short of it is that I failed at getting the tank out (I think i need to remove the sway bar end links, but they defeated me this evening) and more importantly, I need to somehow fix the broken off hard line....

Nice to meet you too!!!!!
