My trusty favorite Dutch Oven of ten years died a couple months back in an automotive-realted incident that pretty well kicked one leg into the cooking area, and caused a huge fracture along the base of it. Bad damage, folks. It was like losing a friend.

Anyway, I had some gift cards and dividends at REI, and I just picked myself up two new replacements, and I must say that Lodge's quality has somehow improved since my last purchase. In a decade since my first DO and these ones, the fit and finish had gone from perfect to phenominal.
So, not everything gets marginalized with time, some folks are around for the long haul!
If anybody's looking for some good new cast iron, I will always reccomend Lodge, even more so now than before. Great stuff, excellent quality well worth the price.

Make sure you tell them so they will continue the good work. They might change if nobody notices.

Lodge products are made in USA. Another reason to buy a great product.

Good to hear.

I bought brand new pre seasoned Lodge stuff last year for camping and at home.
An 8" and 10" skillet, both with lids, and an 8" and 10" Dutch Oven, both with lids.

I quit using my Paul Revere Stainless Steel cook set at home except for one pot I cook canned soup in, and I use the 10" stuff at home, and the 8" stuff camping.

Nice making omelets, fried eggs, French toast, ect, and only having to wipe out the pan with a paper towel and spray some vegi oil in and wipe it around.

I have two dutch ovens I use for camping -- both Lodge -- both awesome!

yeah, those guys crank out a mean product, and Madinal, I surely will tell them, I think that's a great idea.

I'm glad to see everybody here agrees! I own all Lodge gear except for my generations-old Wagner Ware bean pot (which I baby like no other, because I can never replace it).

Another item I could never replace is my BSA skillet. I got that the day of my Eagle Court of Honor from my then-Scoutmaster. Best skillet I've ever had! I take it everywhere!

The lodge stuff is nice but nothting compares to buying a used griswald or wagner that been scraped with SS for decades. The rough high spots will be shaved and it will be the smoothest cast iron you have ever felt.

I have allot of cast iron and wont cook in anything else.

In my camper I have a hard time fitting all the pans on the little wee wee stove in there so last night I was at Cabelas getting a new inverter and wandered over to the cast iron stuff. They had a baddasss cast skillet with three back and side walls and a grease gutter in front and it is meant to sit on a cast iron two burner stove or on a gas stove top.

I had to have it. I tried to find a pic of it as it is different than any others I have seen. No dice, its not on Cabellas website or ina ny google pics no matter how I search.

Ill shoot a couple pics of the setup to show.

I love cast cooking.

I agree, Wagner and Griswold kick butt, I have some Griswold skillets my aunt and uncle gave me, and they're easily thicker metal than the Lodge. Good stuff.

Here it is. IT truly kicks asss! I have no complaints. Look over the new one if ya get one cuz the first one we got had a flaw in the surface with a few small cracks coming out of it. They swapped it out no problem and the new one is perfect.
