I have been reading about this in another thread. I don't know how to bring the link over otherwise I would. They are saying you have to have a sticker like the atv's do now. There have even been a few tickets issued to a few people for not having the stickers in the woodland park area. Have any of you guy's heard of this. I guess it's an extra 25 dollars and it's alway's been the law they are just now starting to enforce it.

Per the official website:

"Off-highway vehicles (OHVs) include motorcycles, dirtbikes, three-wheelers, ATVs, and dune buggies that are operated on public land or trails in Colorado."

Colorado State Parks

Unless there are some other rules it doesn't seem like they could legally ticket any street legal 4x4.

I didn't think a regular 4x4 would need it but apparently it's the forest service who is doing the ticketing. The one lady on the forum said her dad was at an event last week and stay the trail was there letting everyone know about this and that it's been a law and now they are going to enforce it. I just want to make sure before I spend money not needed or I get a ticket. I was hoping someone on here would know.

I don't see how it's possible that everyone who drives through the national forest would need an OHV sticker. What about tourists that drive up rampart? How would you differentiate between someone who is four wheeling, and someone who is just sight seeing or passing through? I just can't see this being true. I would think we would have heard about this from one of our forest service contacts or Rick from the Christmas tree outings.

Please post a link to the other thread so that we can get all the details.

I spend a LOT of time talking (usually weekly at least) with the local USFS Law Enforcement Officer and he has never mentioned anything like this.

Was just at the forest service office downtown. They said the only way you get a ticket is if your vehicle is not registered. Then it's technically an OHV.

No firewood permits this year for pikes peak :( they said there aren't enough dead trees, and the contractor cutting near divide has decided it' s in his best interest to keep all the wood they're cutting. Jerks....

Sounds like some research into this is needed.
It sounds like there are more questions than answers.

And craziest part: "People who are concerned about possible citations should consider purchasing a permit or registration after reading the statute."

So basically they want you to go get a permit just to be sure because no one has a clue what the law really is or how you can expect it to be enforced.
