Odd Leafsprings....

When I bought my cruiser, it already had a lift. I'm not sure what kind of parts were used. It's an import from Japan.

I recently decided that it would be a good idea to replace the shackle and spring bushings on my HZJ73.I noticed they were cracked like hell. Sooo..... I went to the local LC parts guy, got the standard size bushings for my truck, went home and took everything apart, took the old bushings apart and found a surprize!!

The shackle bushing was the normal size but the leaf spring bushing was different.

The ID is 18mm the OD is 40mm (of the bushing)

Anyone know what kind of leaf springs these are?
or
Where I can find bushings?

The only markings that were on the springs says "Takeoff"

this is a pic of the rear bushing. these are fine. but the front ones are cracked pretty bad.

I'd just like to have the spare parts.. Also, it concerns me that nobody seems to know what kind of springs they are.

How many leaves wrap around the bushing?

There are two leaves that wrap around the bushing.

8 leaves in total in the leaf pack.

BTW- the exact measurement of the bushing is:

ID-18mm OD-40mm (I found my notebook!!...)

Isn't the standard size spring bushing for
73 series LC's OD-35mm??.

Mine would be at least 40 mm OD on both my cruisers. 35mm sounded too small anyway

The biggest bushing the LC parts guy around here has is 35mm (Old Man Emu). He's been selling cruiser parts for years, he's never seen any 40mm OD.

(40mm is the OD of the main body of the bushing, NOT the outer lip)

I dont have mine off to do a proper measurement,but it looks like 40 OD on the bush.
Try sending an email off to someone else who sells them.

Either way its just a matter of finding someone with a 40 mm bush

There are many aftermarket Japanese springs that come on the vehicles. Try Googling the part numbers and such and see what comes up.
