OBX camping?

My question is, is there any place in the OBX area where you are allowed to camp on the beach? I go down there every year and rent a house or camp in one of the camp grounds. But would like to stay on the beach if at alll possible.

I've only ever used the campgrounds. $20 a night i believe. We've stayed on the beach all night before, but not actually set up a campsite.

Im going to the Southern end of the Core banks in April. You can camp on the beach. They also have cabins and camping areas too.

Ask in the Old North State Cruisers forum. Sorry I can't help. I've never been there, but their club has an event there every year so they should know all the ins and outs.

No, I have not tried camping out there yet, maybe this summer as soon as I fixed the blown headgasket on my rig.

No camping is allowed on the beach from Ocracoke north to Oregon Inlet; campgrounds only. South and North Core Banks is allowed anywhere I believe.

We stayed at nags head one time on a car trip down the eastern seaboard. On the way we saw a group of trucks heading out camping. I was very jealous. It looks like a great area.
