Anyone plan on going? I just signed up Pinyon Mountain McGill Campground at 7500 ft, so temps won't be bad at all. Tom Severns is leading a run Saturday on Millers Jeep Trail that should be a good run.

Nope, not going

I would have liked to join Tom on his run if it wasn't so far away. He is wealth of knowledge and an opportunity to participate in one of his trail runs should not be missed!

That's exactly why I'm going! It's only 150 miles up to the Grapevine and I need to get out again. Have Friday off, so will just wait for commute traffic to subside and take off.

Good trip. Sorry - I'm lousy at taking pics. Millers Jeep Trail is A LOT more torn up then I remember it from 6-7 years ago. I ran it with a stock truck and running boards (which I bent!) back then. I think a stock truck would have clearance issues on the climb up Millers now. The beginning of the trail thru Lockwood Valley was sad as that's the area that burned in a forest fire. Desolate moonscape is about the only way to describe it. I remember the initial climb out of the valley being very pretty pine forest. It's G-O-N-E!

Camped in one of two group campsites at McGill Campground in the Los Padres Nat'l Forest. Group campsite is not the correct name for these sites. They took a couple of smaller loops of what look like used to be individual sites and called it 'group'. We were told the site would fit 20 vechiles - BULL! Each of the 6 'sites' fit two vechiles at best and there was virtually no flat ground at all to pitch a tent! Oh well. Run was fun and the potluck Saturday evening was very good.

Didn't participate in the field day activities. This trip for OAUSA is primarily Ham field day related so there were only about 20 people and a dozen or so trucks on this trip.
