Already done and replaced with silicone one, I don't know why it is such a pesky hose, I found it to be quite easy to replace:meh:

just curious, what's a PHH? I've seen the term all over the place and even did a search on the 80 forum, but no description of what, exactly it is...

EDIT: Dammit Steve, you beat me to it. Don't you have a job or something?

Pesky Heater Hose. It's the little hose that always breaks on 80's and is a PITA to replace. Well, unless you have the engine out I guess. :)

Jay
can you do me a favor and measure the inside of the 80 series wheels from side to side. I am looking for width not depth if your looking at the back of the wheel. I am curious if the 80 wheels will fit an FJC and clear the calipers.

Thanks
Dave

Ok folks this is going to happen on the afternoon of the 18th, so if you are so inclined to join us, we'd be happy to have help......

... Also, big mistake, I cross threaded the oil pan while trying to mount it up to the engine stand, but at least I have another one that I can use from another 1FZ.

Be sure that the oil pan and the engine mating surface are very clean, free of deep scratches, etc. It seems that the cast oil pans are less forgiving than the typical stamped oil pan. I rebuilt my 1FZ in 2007, but still have an oil leak at the (upper) oil pan. I used the Toyota RTV and followed the FSM, but it still leaked. That is really painful considering how much work it is to get that engine out. :frown:

How did it go Jay? Hope you were able to get it done. Let's see some pics.

It is in, it is pretty much all hooked up, just a few doo dads to button up, wires not going where they should etc.... But hopefully we can get it startet soon!!! I have lots of pics, and will post them in the coming days....

Here is one i took right after we got the motor/tranny/tc out of the truck.

That's it, got it in, makes a strange sound hopefully it is not from the drivetrain... taking it to JB Toyota Wed. to let them look at it and let me know what they think the malfunction is, hopefully not serious, but if it is I guess i'll deal with it. Let me know if anyone wants to pull their 1FZ and i'll make sure i'm on vacation or out of town some other way.....:grinpimp:

Thanks for all the pics. At least now you know you are good to go for awhile, barring any major malfunction in this noise situation.

Glad to hear that it all went well and sorry to hear that J**p guys installed it. Maybe thats where the noise is from? Hey at least they wheel and are good help.

Looking forward to seeing it on the trail.

well the oil pans came off again tonight just to make sure it wasn't rods messing up as far as the engine noise was concerned, so this is the 3rd time I have removed oil pans on a 1FZ, never again unless it is to swap a 12H or a 1HD-T in it. Hopefully we find the culprit, and I can get some assistance from cruiserparts to defray the cost of all this work. Any ways wish us good luck and hopefully it'll be on the trails soon!!!
