Northwest Overland Rally June 23-26, 2016

The Northwest Overland Rally is an overland vehicle rally of trucks, vans, SUVs, and adventure motorcycles who met in Plain, WA, which is north of Leavenworth, off Hwy 2 between Everett and Wenatchee.

Beside the vehicle rally there was another big rally organized by Touratech, the same group who promotes the Washington/Oregon Backroads Discovery Routes. Pictured below is the Touratech camp side beside the vehicle site.

There were dozens of vendors showing off their off road and camping products, who gave away tons of prizes every night - I won some gloves and a couple glow sticks.

This is a big family event with a kids' activities and variety of 'overland' oriented workshops, such as travel in Death Valley and Utah, workshops on diffs and gearing, 4WD driving techniques, non-winch recovery instruction, introductory ham radio, emergency tire repair, fire building techniques, mobile solar power, photography and cinematography with Overland Journal Editor in Chief Chris Collard.

Another big attraction is the huge variety of camping rigs, including full size pickups, mini trucks, military trucks, off road trailers, compact off road pickup campers, Landcruisers, Land Rovers, Fusos, Earthcruiser and even a C403 Volvo (looks like a Pinzgauer). There was free cocktails, wine and whiskey tasting, campfires and Raffle.

I met and talked to many very interesting people.
