I wouldn't trust buying any North Face (or Columbia, Jack Wolfskin, Nike, Oakley, or any other major brand) on
ebay. Just looking at some of the auctions, you can tell right away they're fake. Craigslist is full of fakes also, so just be careful of who you buy from. The imitations nowadays are getting much, much better, so it's harder to tell what's real or not. I've seen some auctions where the picture is taken in the street stall in China where they were selling it, I think I even recognized the place it was taken. If there are Guess jeans and LV or Prada purses anywhere in the pictures, you can be guaranteed it's fake, they don't sell those type of items in the same stores.
I gotta agree that the North Face as a company has really gone downhill in recent years. There are so many other companies that have good product, that I haven't even looked at buying a North Face product in the last 10 years. Mountain Hardware, Montbell, Marmot, Arcteryx, Sierra Designs, all have really good stuff, without all the excess crap that North face has been putting on their clothing for years.
