noise in center console

When hitting the brake i get some sort of noise in the shifter console. could this have something to do with the brake to shift deal or am i in for a surprise?

I have not taken console out yet but will shortly.

Should be normal, you can hear the shifter interlock disengage whenever you press the brake pedal with the trans in Park.

I found this thread on a search and have a similar issue.

I can also hear a clicking sound just after I start the LC. However, my clicking sound clicks several times like off/on .. off/on .. off/on.

Is this the "D" interlock going crazy? Is there a fix?

I have the exact same issue on my 91. Would really like to know what it is.
