I'm sure you guys have all seen the threads and links for Nicolas Rapp's around the world trip. I guess he is arriving back in the states in Los Angeles this weekend (Sunday?) and invited anyone who wanted to come for a breakfast. I've already e-mailed the guy who is coordinating and I will try and go say hello and have a look at his truck. Pretty cool, he's been on the road for over a year now.

I'll let you know if it pans out and I'll post the time and place.

Ok, apparently it is all confirmed that he is arriving on Sunday morning. I think there is a big mess trying to confirm what the plan is, but if anyone has a food recommendation that is convenient to the port they are trying to figure that out right now.

I'm also trying to see if it wouldnt be better to have an evening get together on Mon/Tue after he has a chance to pick his truck up and get a good night sleep. I've done the asia flight a couple times and it can be brutal.

Like I said, its all up in the air, so if you have suggestions, throw them out

Yep, he got a nice mud :flipoff2: on that unimpressive start to his trip. I think he ended up staying a few days with mudders in LA, TX and somewhere in central america who helped get the truck sound.

A few guys on here predicted a fail, but a year later and he has done it, so I guess you dont have to be a grease monkey to drive around the world....it just helps.

Yes, I agree he will be wasted after the flight. I suggested a reschedule to his friend in order to give the poor guy a few days to reclaim his truck and get some sleep. I'll post up whatever they decide.

Yeah, I followed this guy for quite awhile, glad he's made it. I told him early on that when he landed in L.A. that I'd like to meet him so I'm going to try.

How about the location of food trucks, that seems to be all the rage right now, or maybe someplace in Pedro? I don't know restaurants down there well, maybe somebody would throw out some names if they're familiar.

Ok, anyone who wants to come shake the guys hand and chit chat a little lets meet at 9am, Sunday morning at the Starbucks on Sepulveda (near LAX): 8817 South Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles, CA.

Some other people are going to meet him at the terminal at 8:40am when his flight arrives (Delta 284). I'm going to call and check in with them sometime after that to see where we're going to meet for breakfast.

Looking forward to saying hello to you guys and chatting with Nic about his trip.

If anyone needs to reach me in the morning, my cell is (three1zero) nine2three four5nine2

just show up at the Delta Terminal at LAX at 8:30am, Nicolas should arribe like 9 or so...
Sunday 01/09/11

from there, breakfast somewhere close by, based on Nicolas feedback...

1 local fast food (hometown buffer, IHOP, McD)
2 san pedro (fresh fish)
3 road roaches
and some other options that I don't remember...

I'll be there just to say hi and talk a bit...

Or meet at the terminal. I thought a easily accessible remote location would be easier to coordinate than LAX. Whatever you guys want to do, just let me know.

Yeah im out. Im not going to LAX to meet some dude i barely know. Hell, i hate going there to pickup family members! You guys have fun and let me know how it went.

haha, yeah, I was trying to avoid actually going into the airport.

Hey, did you end up making it out to Death Valley?

Hi all,
You are gonna think I am crazy, but something crazy happened. I arrived this morning in LAX. I left Tokyo on Saturday afternoon, and when I arrived in LA, I was surprised to see nobody there. It was because it was Saturday morning here. In short, I crossed the international dateline during the night, and because I have been traveling toward the east, I gained one day.
So I am now in LA, and still want to meet tomorrow, but this time probably not at the airport.
Would it work for everybody to meet at Aroma coffee and tea company, 4360 tujunga ave., Studio City. 11 am would be great. Let me know what you think.

NIck

Right on, a little closer for us. We'll be there.

Nicolas, it was a pleasure to meet you... keep us posted, let us know what we can do to help... :steer:

 Glad he got home safe and proved it can be done if there is a will. I betcha there is a book coming out in the future - hoping it will be a nice read.

Looking at the pics:
So after all that rough driving around the world, a Lambo is more appropriate for driving from coast to coast!

Is that Tom Severin and his red 80?
