I'll be driving up there with an empty cruiser from Victoria. If anyone wants a lift let me know.

Original Post:

Hey all, wondering if we should try a meeting up in Cowichan/Duncan area this month? Would be nice to meet some of the fellas up there. Seapotato, Diesel Cruiserman (and others) would you guys be up for this? What days are good for you next week? What venue would you recommend?

I'll have 4 empty seats available and will be DD for anyone in Victoria that would want a ride up there.

If there is no interest in this, we'll fall back on the usual meet at 6 mile on May 21st at 7:00pm.

how about the Cobblestone Pub in cobble hill? easy to get to ( just turn left at the rona on the hwy and drive for 2km and you drive right into it). Great grub/ beer!!

Insurance will be back on the BJ42 by then..

Try and get some more mid island and maybe north island guys together..

Could come down from Nanaimo May 20/21, but my shift ends at 630 so I'd be late at best.
25th, 26th are my days off at the end of the month.

I do believe the first official club meeting that wasn't in the Crusty's living room was in that pub....I think that's the last time I was there too.

On another note, is there a reason we have to have these meetings on wednesdays ?

I've left the day open purposely because I knew Wednesday's were not good for you. Let me know what day does work for you and we'll try that. The Cobblestone Pub works for you?

Weekend gathering might be nice..

Easy, we've almost got them convinced to venture beyond goldstream. Don't push it too far....
Because I need an excuse to drink in the week? ... not that I'll be there :D

Really? you need an excuse to drink? You been hanging out at the ikea mothership eating reindeer balls for too long...

For me, DEFINITELY not tuesday...and preferably not wednesday. (FAWK wednesdays. Just sayin'.)

That particular wednesday involves me setting alarm clock obscenely early. Practically the night before.

So I'll be quite a bit grumpier than usual, and probably asleep on the couch in the evening when the meeting is happening.

Not a big fan of thursdays either, but I'll leave that for now....:hillbilly:

Weekends are ok for me as long as it's an evening meet at 7:30-8:00pm. I can do this weekend (17th/18th) or the last weekend of the month (31st/1st). I'm gone camping the other weekend, so that won't work. Let me know if one of these days work for you guys and we can firm up a date.

thats a pretty fancy looking crane... what happened to the good old days of the ho crane? Doesn't mount on the vw well?

not bad for a hundred bucks eh? Bought it specifically for the boat, but it's going to be pretty nice for an engine swap I'm contemplating.

The ho crane is doing what a good ho should. Leaning up against a corner waiting to be mounted...

Gee the two things Seapotato is really good at, flipping things and drinking and he gets to do both on the same day.
Maybe we should all come to watch, drink, heckle, drink, offer sound advise and have a drink or two.

A few bodies to pad the ground in case of slip up wouldn't be bad. The egyptians were on to something...:flipoff2:

good luck with the flip. we just flipped one last week.
wish i got one with the crane but s*** was a little crazy to be standing around taking photos.

Yeah, it's going to to be a challenge to avoid it getting sketchy...not a lot of weight, but also not a lot of clearance under the gantry. I have lots of old tires I've been hanging onto for this operation...be glad when it's over so I can get rid of them.

I wish I could give you a hand with the boat seapotato, but I gotta take care of my yard apes while the better half works 12 hour shifts Sat and Sun. Soonest I could leave Victoria is 6pm. If some guys gave you a hand with the boat, would you be up for a meet at the pub afterwards? Or could meet at your place, but not sure you want that.
