Hey guys,
We bought a 1987 Toyota 4x4 truck with a 22R / 5 speed / 31x10.5x15 tires / 199,xxx miles .
I would like to ask a few questions please.

What fuel mileage might we expect from this truck 15? 17mpg?

Also, today I installed a new Weber 32 / 36 carb. The sparse installation instructions left a lot to the imagination. I was told to install the supplied EGR plate onto the intake manifold and screw the vacuum supplied vacuum fitting. To do this I had to remove a steel elbow and tube that runs along side the valve cover to the rear of the engine. I did that but the instructions did not say what to connect to this fitting. Should I connect the hose from the PCV valve? I also have a plastic hose barb in the supplied air filter housing, what shall I connect there?

And finally the distributor on my truck has TWO vacuum hoses. DO I connect BOTH of these to thew Weber or just use ONE distributor vacuum?

I can supply photos if that helps carify my questions.
Thanks for all input!

Hello,
I'm currently running the same set up on my 79. And Even though it has the 20r, I ran thru the same issues.

I connected The egr fitting to the pcv valve on the cover. Also, I completely blocked off the egr valve on the back of the engine.

For the distributor. One line goes connected on the intake, which advances the timing when you floor it. And the other one goes connected to a different valve I believe. Or at least that's how I set up mine.

For the remaining exhaust hole on the valve cover. You can get away with putting a filter or plug it completely.
The only purpose of that hole is to recycle oil fumes back into the intake. Hence why some people use the small air filter connected to it. However, I've seen guys running a line from this hole back into the carb. But this requires to make a hole in the air filter assembly and find a connection (from a hardware store) to connect the hose coming from the valve cover.

I hope this helps. I will try to get some pictures of my set up in the morning.

maybe the plastic barb they suplied him with is so he can make a hole in the side of filter houseing for the valve cover hole to be conected to? The carb gm motors had a tube running from valve cover to filter houseing

I have an '87 as well. I installed a 32/36 (now have a 38) and it was pretty simple once I yanked all the smog garbage off of it. If the Weber didn't use it I trashed it. The tube you're speaking of, trashed. The EGR plate you screwed onto the manifold connects to the PCV valve. Connect one vacuum line from the Weber to the "front" fitting on the distributor. Cap the other fitting. There was a fitting in the kit (I assume) that allows you to connect a hose from the valve cover breather hole to the bottom of the air cleaner assembly. I removed the EGR contraption on the rear of the block and made a block off plate to cover the hole. Here are the instructions I used. http://www.clutchkitcenter.com/media/images/weber/K746.pdf
