Hey guys, I joined the site today and I have been reading the forum for 2 hours now, got lots of ideas.
We bought a 1987 4x4 for my 17 yr old for Christmas. It has 22R / 5 speed / 199,xxx miles. Today I installed a Weber 32 / 36 carb, got tired of trying to get stock carb to run right.

Issues so far:
Heater core must be clogged due to low heater output. I am gonna check for a missing thermostat. And try to back flush before I tackle replacing the heater core.

When driving down the road with heat and A/C off and outside recirc air selected, I get a constant blast of cold air coming into the truck from somewhere behind the glove box?

Fuel gauge does not work, I guess I need a sender.

Water temp gauge does not work, sender on block does have a wire connected to it.

Throwout bearing noise? until truck has warmed up?

Broken stud on exhaust manifold that results in a tick / leak. How likely that I will break other studs trying to replace this one?

No light behind temp controls. I read that it is a #75 bulb?

I have read about a Toyota 5 speed that needs to be "Overfilled" to increase service life. Do I have this tranny in my 1987 model?

I know this is a lot, but I am trying to get yp to speed on Toyota so I can make my son's 4x4 a better ride!
Thanks to all who help out!

you have a lot of questions, and some of them are hard to answer on the internet, for instance your cables from your heater control unit should be checked to make sure they are working, there is a control valve on your fire wall under the hood where the heaterlines enter move the heater control from hot to cold and see if that control valve is moving. also the resirc cable seems to not be shutting the door to keep outside air from coming in, now this is where it gets hard to answer your question, much easier for me to tell you that your best bet is to buy a FSM not a haines or chiltons but a Factory Service Manual.

im new to the minis also. and got few of same questions. its a good forum. we dont always get a response as fast as we like. But im shore one of the GURUs will chine in.

your heater sending unit should not be on the block, it should be if you have a 22re on the intake manifold between injectors 2 and 3.

your broken stud on your exhaust manifold should be fixed, it could eventually burn the exhaust valves, not to mention carbon monoxide entering the cab.

fuel gauge not working probably what you said, my 87 gauge read full or empty so when i got to about 7/8ths of a tank it dropped to empty, but my light still worked so i never worried to much about that.

as for oil pressure and temp gauges i would install a set of auto meter gauges to be sure of my readings. stock gauges leave a lot to be desired

the rest of your questions you either answered yourself or i have no knowledge of.
