And saying you have owner a Cruiser for 10 years doesn't automatically make you a cruiserhead. I've seen and met people who have owned them longer than that and to them it's just a car.

You said it. There is definately a difference there. Couple of my buds have Cruisers and neither of them are what I consider a Cruiserhead, yet.... It's like I'm some kind of obsessed freak about it. That's cool with me.

Xterra's are aight, but how can you compare it to the FJ? No matter how ugly it is or what it's capabilities may be it's a Cruiser and that's just fawkin cool. Heritage man.

Neone who would recommend an Xterra over any Cruiser period just doesn't have that true Cruiserhead inside. But like yours it's just my opinion. :D

it's just a marketing strategy from Toyota to make people think that it's a Land Cruiser and sell more units to soccer moms.

Current day Land Cruiser does seem to be a 200% more soccer-mom-mobile then the FJ. At least around here.

I'm amazed how people who claims to be cruiserheads say that the FJ Cruiser is a Land Cruiser because it shares it's platform with the 120 series, if that's the case, then we should add sections for the 4R and the tacos, since they share their platform with the FJ Cruiser.

Actually j7addict, we do have a section for the 4R and the Tacomas.

Golfr,

Congrats on a good choice of vehicle. Definitely sliders (rock rails) and rear differential lock as options.

As far as instruction, a club is good, but a lesson from a I4WDTA certified instructor can really give you the information you need to get started safely. You may want to give www.leonardmotorsports.net a try. Kevin is near Albany, NY and is a first rate, certified instructor.

Happy trails,

Chris

Golfr,
I will be picking up my new FJ Cruiser next week. I will be wanting to get her dirty as soon as possible. . I know a few clubs in Jersey that often go out to the Pine Barrens to do some mudding. If you want I can PM you with some contact names. Most of them are Jeep owners but welcome anybody and are willing to help out anyone who wants to show up. PA does have a few clubs as well. I have heard that Paragon is an awesome ride but have not made it out there as of yet. I say go for the FJ Cruiser...... Good luck

ick.

The factory sliders as we tested them on the Rubicon held up quite well.
As did the skid plates. The skid plated did not look substantial, and we did not repeatedly put the weight of the whole vehicle on them.
But we did with the sliders, and they took it smiling.
See the Jnauary February Toyota Trails for "the big review."
