Yup, newbie to the truck tech. However, not to the site. Been on the 80 forum quite a bit and a source of great info.

Just a quick background, I have had several land Cruisers in my past and currently own a 97 80 and a 00 100 . Just traded my 77 40 for a 89 p/u. Well built truck, really well built. SAS with All-pro kit in front, Bilsteins all around, 4.88 f/r with Toyota e-lockers f/r, daul case set up from Marlin, front rotor upgrade from FJ60, All-pro rear and sliders, Marlin front bumper with Mile Marker 9.5, Viair comp with 10 gallon tank, Power steering,AC that will freeze your balls off, running my old 33" Pro-Comps X-terrains for now. Oh yea, got 163k on the speedo. I'll try to post up some pics when I get some taken. Looking forward to wheelin' the truck.

Not all that good at searching for a FAQ so I'm gonna ask it here and see if y'all can help.
Got a bit of a stuble while idleing almost like a miss, but runs fine up through the gears. Any suggestions of what/where to start looking? Cracked/clogged vacuum lines? Dirty throttle body? Any help would be cool. Thanks in advance.

Gonna check...I'm sure its still on the truck. I'm the third owner and the orginal owner had it dealer maintained. The po never got into the motor and it still gets 23 mpg. Gonna look at the EGR...don't need it after 20 yrs anyway here in Texas. No emissons after 20. Thanks for the input.

The EGR I think comes off the manifold to the exhaust mani....sooo just block it off??? in both spots? I can do that.

Well built...thanks. Gonna make a trip to Gillmer,Tx in mid Jan for the Roundup. I think its the weekend of 17-20. I'll post some pics when I can. Any more help is more than welcome. Thanks again.

If it was me i would do a power balance test. quick and easy, pull one plug wire at a time and see if you can isolate a cylinder. if you can, then look into plug, wire, vacuum leak near that cylinder or even a tight valve. another easy thing is to pop the valve cover and check the valve adjustment on all the valves. i usually reuse the gasket without any leaks. if all the cylinders react the same with the power balance test then the problem is probably fuel ratio related. put a vacuum gauge on the intake manifold and adjust accordingly. you mentioned throttle body, is it carb, or EFI? if you think its a vacuum leak a can of carb cleaner can usually find it. spray around the intake while its running and look for an idle fluctuation. stay away from the exhaust;) good luck. and of course check the timing

EFI, gonna try to check the valve adjustment tomorrow. Gotta get a new timing light. Old one broke. Plugs, wires, and cap are all new. Installed just prior to my getting the truck. I'll check stuff out and let y'all know what I find. Thanks again.

Valves just a little out. #3 exhaust loose, #4 intake to tight. Ran Sea Foam through it and did a plug and oil change last week. Bought a new timing light today and the timing was way off. PO had done a chain replacement and adjusted timing with old marks. It was way advanced. Put a jump wire in per book and adjusted timing and idle. It purrs like a new truck. Thanks to those that posted and looked.

I'll post up some pics after this weekend
