Update: I received my globes from Impex! It took a while, but here’s a detailed breakdown:
Ordered Part Numbers:
49151-60010 × 2
49141-60010 × 2
On 4/17, I paid $478.36 for price of parts. Make sure to use a credit/debit card payment method so you don’t get hit with a huge PayPal currency conversion fee.
On 4/28, I got an email saying the order had arrived at their Osaka warehouse.
From 4/29–5/6, Japan was on Golden Week holiday, and Impex was closed as well.
On 5/6, I paid the shipping cost after they informed me the package was ready: $110.14
On 5/12, I got another email saying there was a small extra shipping charge of $4.79
On 5/15, I received an email from DHL saying they received the shipment at the Nagoya hub, and there was also a $90 customs fee
. They paid it first and the package continued on its way to me. I later paid the customs fee.
On 5/18, I received the package in the morning!
Total cost: about $683.29
Total time: roughly 4 weeks
I think it would’ve been much faster if I hadn’t ordered right before their holiday period. It probably would have taken around 3 weeks total.
In my opinion, the packaging could have been a little better, but the items themselves are very heavy-duty, so no real issue there.
Hopefully, I can get them installed soon.
Overall: Great experience, definitely better than buying from unknown eBay sellers!
