Hello. I just wanted to introduce myself and want to say thank you for all the great content on here. I live in Qatar and picked up a 1993 FZJ80 here. It is a VX-R, 1FZ-FE, Manual, factory triple locked and Factory PTO winch, 2"ish Dobinson lift. It has the PTO on the transfer case and the controls in the cab, but unfortunately is missing the driveshafts and the actual winch. No clue on the mileage as the odometer didn't work when I bought it, but it shows 380,000 KM. I pulled the speedo apart and the only broken part was the trip meter gear reset was snapped as I have found is pretty typical on these. It runs and drives fantastic, no leaks anywhere, but had tons of small issues, especially the wiring in the engine bay and I am still sorting it out. I bought a parts 95 LC for real cheap and took everything that was salvageable including a decent wiring harness with the fuse box that wasn't all fried and went through the entire thing to make it nice. It was originally an automatic and was converted at some point to a manual transmission. Most of the connectors on the engine, transmission and transfer case are broken and I have been working on getting all those fixed up. Whoever did work on the wiring before did an awful job just twisting wires and putting tape over them. I love soldering and making things nice, so it's almost all sorted out now. It has a sub fuel tank and I am still working on getting it working. I pulled the pump and got it working and put the used fuel sender from the other truck in the sub tank and it works, but seems to be slightly off on the level by about a 1/4 tank. I put 25L of fuel in it, which should be 1/2 tank, but only shows 1/4 on the sub fuel tank gauge. When I push the Sub Fuel button the valve clicks and the pump starts to run, but then shuts off. The main tank is less than 1/2, so got some work to do there. The A/C was blowing nice and cold, but the condenser sprang a small leak, so I sourced an aftermarket one that I will install this weekend. I hate using non OEM parts, but it's hard to find OEM for these old trucks. The cooler box blows air, but not cold and same with the rear AC, so gotta figure out why. I have been doing all the regular maintenance to have a starting point, i.e... oil change, fuel filter, transmission oil, etc... The transmission was hard to shift when it was cold, but when I changed the oil it was way overfilled. When I removed the fill plug oil started pouring out. Now that it has the proper level it has no more issues and shifts great hot or cold. I am going to change the transfer case oil and differentials this weekend, but there is a couple extra drain and fills because of the PTO, so I guess I will just pull the drain from the lowest point and fill from the highest point as I can't find any specific info with this setup. Maybe someone has some insight? I will try and get some good pictures later, but thought I would introduce myself and truck as I am sure I will be posting questions in the forums at some point. I got the quad light setup off Aliexpress, cheap, but actually a pretty decent setup. This is how I bought it, lights and roof rack included. Also have a nice STEDI light bar for the roof that came with it, but it was mounted horribly, so I took it off til I get better mounts and maybe a better roof rack. This one seems very cheap and is not branded, but works for the time being. Its a great camping rig for my family and I here and fun to blast around the desert.
