Gents,

I've lurked here from time to time. My first "cruiser" is an '07 FJ in Sun Fusion, which my wife and I adore. However, a couple of weeks ago we took advantage of the market and "stole" this '08 200 from its previous owner via a Toyota dealer in Denver, with only 17,500 miles on the odo. It was the perfect replacement for my wife's Sequoia. I don't have any major mod plans for now; it will be my wife's daily driver and road trip vehicle. We were very pleased with the fuel economy. Our first 1800 miles (almost all highway) has averaged 18 mpg. We even managed 19 mpg locked in a 70 mph without wind-assist. We are very pleased.

Congrats on a very nice find. I've noticed prices on the 08's continue to steadily come down--maybe even into my range.

Mind if I ask what you 'stole it for'? There are a couple on the web with similar miles right at 50k.

I bought this for $52K even, but that was in consideration that I had a trade - an '03 Sequoia 4x4 with 78K miles on it. I am sure I could have managed a little better if I bought the 200 outright. I was particularly enamored with this 200 because it was both the exterior and interior color my wife and I were looking for. It was also in immaculate condition and Toyota certified preowned (the only way to go, imo). There were really no other acceptable options within my driving radius. I drove from Kansas City to pick this one up, and none to sooner, as another couple test drove it and made an offer on it ($55K) before I got there. They were really livid that the dealer sold it to me sight unseen, and the dealer was nervous too knowing they could have made a lot more. The couple argued with the general manager for hour and half that that was "their Land Cruiser" but the dealer maintained their integrity and defended my vehicle. Oh well, better luck next time. I'm happy.

The P226 was my very first SIG, and first centerfire autoloader. There are arguably none better.

Wow. Amazing chunk off of msrp for an engine that's barely broken in. Nice job. I might have to get the checkbook out. Thanks for sharing.

Certainly agree re the P226. The Army blew it when they went with the Italian job.

Nice Cruiser. I take it, that one is fully loaded. I live in the bay area and had to fly up to Seattle to pick up my silver 08' Land Cruiser up sight unseen two weeks ago. I paid $53,400 with 9,900 miles on it and it's fully loaded. You did well! They were asking 55,550 previously than dropped it to 53,900 before I made my offer of $53,400. I wonder if I could have gone lower but felt I might be pushing it. At this point, I love the truck so much I probably would have paid more.:steer: What tires does your truck have on it? Mine have the BS dueller h/t and heard they are terrible.

That's funny. If this 200 didn't work out, my next option was to consider that Silver one in Seattle, as we have family in WA. Did you buy it from Michael's Toyota? There was another nearly identical in the Seattle area, too, from another dealer. Almost same mileage. Either would have suited me. If we couldn't get the blue 200, Silver was our next choice. Silver looks really sharp, and is perhaps our favorite color, but we prefer the Adobe interior.

Our 200 was pretty much loaded with the upgrade package, and a few other perks, like cargo nets, locking wheel nuts, twin .30 cal machine guns mounted underneath fog lights, etc. Full meal deal, really. It also had the clear bra applied to the front hood, side view mirrors and door edges, which is nice, as the one thing that had really started to eat the Sequoia up was the rock chips in the front. The tires are Michelin Latitude Tour HP, which pretty much suck, but they'll stay until requiring replacement. My pocket book is spent at this point, and we're liable to wear them out on the interstate versus the outback anyway. We've got the FJ for adventurous off-roading for the time being.

Hi Tim,

I bought it from Magic Toyota. I think my rig came with a better option. It came with a M134(mini-gun 3000 rounds per minute) attached on top of the roof. :grinpimp: Honestly though, I wish my had the clear bra pkg.. I might be able to still get that since mine has very few rock chips. Just have to touch those up before hand. We preferred the gray leather because we have kids other wise the adobe looks very nice until you take it off road. :steer: I didn't know Michael's toyota had one. What were they asking for it? I am convinced that any OEM tire regardless of high end vehicle or not, they all suck. :eek: I just had someone yesterday say "I didn't know they made Land Cruisers anymore and what makes it different than the Sequoia"? This was the first time I had to enlighten someone about the qualities and capabilities of such an icon. He was driving a Tacoma quad cab. He just gave me a blank stare.:confused: Lets put it this way. We live 2 1/2 hours from the Rubicon trail and he had no idea what that was? Enough said.:rolleyes:

Ok, I checked Michaels toyota in Bellevue and they still have it. I was going to freak out if the price they offered was better than what I got. Here is what they are asking after dropping the price 2k.

It looks good clean and dirty. :) With that warranty it covers everything including NAV. and no deductible.

I'm surprised there are even used LC200's on the market in general. Who would get rid of such a beauty so soon??? :hillbilly:

That's not the Cruiser I had searched a few weeks ago. It was silver and I believe mileage was lower (closer to 10K).

I wasn't planning, but decided to buy the extended warranty, too. I made certain that the price was not simply an extension of the standard factory warranty, but was discounted in consideration of the standard extended Toyota certified warranty. I paid $1500 for mine. I'm glad I did for a couple of reasons, but mainly because this is the most sophisticated and electronically tricked out Land Cruiser yet. Yes, LC's have a phenomenal reputation for durability and reliability, but considering the total price I paid, I figured $1.5K was relatively cheap insurance that would at least guarantee that I don't have to come out of pocket to replace some navigation system component, or other heavily electronic-based system that is generally more prone to bugs. Anything like that goes out and it will be well beyond $1.5K fo' sho'. Unfortunately, the 200 maybe one of the best LC's yet, but stuff can still be quirky. We shall see if it was worth it.

One final thought. The fact that Toyota only charges $1500-1800 for the 7/100 warranty on the LC is one of the best indicators of Toyota's overall confidence in the Land Cruiser. I've bought six Toyotas, and this was the cheapest extended warranty yet, despite the vehicle's MSRP of nearly double my most expensive (and least reliable) Toyota yet (Sequoia, which had all sorts of electronic issues).

Hi Tim,

As this is my first Land Cruiser, I am glad to hear the extended warranty is not that much comparing to other toyotas. I came very close on turning it down, but my buddy that was with me suggested it was a good deal for the price of the vehicle and the length of the warranty. I just hope if something is going to go wrong, that it better happen before 7yr./100k. :hhmm: I love my truck more than my previous 05' LR3 which was nice to drive but could never be trusted when going off road. I was always worried of being stranded. :frown:
