I had a set of BFG AT's on my cruiser for about 50K mi's, and finally wanted something more aggressive. I've driven them on ice, rain, deep snow, mud, etc. and they do pretty good for mild off-roading. Worse in mud than anything else. The difference my wife noticed was a stiffer ride, which didn't bother me. It's going to take a really good AT to top these. If you want something more aggressive you should look at the new Toyo MT. I've read a lot about it, being really quiet and balances well, wears very well. It wasn't availible in a 315 when I got my tires, so I'm running sipped 315 MT's and once they are sipped, they're fine in rain. Firestone makes a few models that people like here, Revo's being one for mainly highway and some light wheeling. Your gas mileage will go down with a larger more agressive tire than the factory size Michelin, but they are pretty much a street only tire. Do lot's of research as once you get them, it's very expensive to turn around and buy something else.

Why would this be a factor to dissuade anyone from buying BFG's?

Because they perform poorly relative to other A/T tires for highway driving in wet conditions. If most of your driving will be on-road, and very little offroad, and nothing more than easy to moderate offroading, then on-road performance is a major factor. If other A/T tires perform better in wet conditions, they might be a better choice considering the intended use for his vehicle. Hope this clears thiings up.

Ended up with Michelin Cross terrains.......... :censor: ( :princess: ) tires! :crybaby: Was all set to go with an aggressive 285/75R16 when reality hit......98% on road driving in the immediate future, fuel prices and available $$$. When I go with am OME lift, arb and other improvements I’ll get steel wheels and gnarly tires. For now it's a road rig, :princess: mobile, child carrier. Got get her in top mechanical condition then make her cool......
