Well My toyota owner history isnt too great just yet but! I can start with a 74 fj40!

I worked with a neighbor restoring land cruisers during high school and by my senior year I was pretty sure I needed one. My plan was to buy one that needed work, fix it up and double my money. I figured thats what my boss always did, why couldnt I? Experience, ha!
It was a good truck, had a 2f swapped in with a 4 speed but it hadnt run in a while and the trans was in the passenger seat... So fast foreward to me dailying the thing through the winter with a spring over, saginaw power steering and 33s... and I was done. Especially considering I had the trans in and out a total of 4 times until I found out it was junk. Long story short, my boss felt bad for little ol me and traded me his '78 633 (which was my plan to own once I flipped the cruiser). See below, didnt quite look this good when I got it.

Now at this point I turned into a big sports car nut. Until recently.
Back when I was in 8th grade the same neighbor, who had just moved in next door, sold a sweet 1985 toyota sr5 to the a farrier, friend of my dad.
Naturally I wanted every part of that truck, but alas. A 5k note on a truck a lowly 8th grader cannot pay.
So I comenced the mind games. "Man this truck is so cool, how many vehicles do you have? How good on gas is it? How much do you like it? How does a 6 foot 5 man fit in that little cab? When you decide to sell let me know!"
So fast forward to a couple weeks ago.
Now this guy has about 8 trucks, works for himself and not often at that so he doesnt drive alot. He comes to me and says he needs me to do some work on his z71. So Im all ohhhkayyy I guess, because farriers are not naturally good payers. He says, get it running nice and Il give you that toyota..... huh? So before I even get to work on the chebby he lets me come get my payment.

Before the clean

Now after I got it, when I arrived at the parts store to stock up for the z71 refurb I decided to get some stuff for the yota.Typical tune up. Im pulling the plugs and I realize theyre bosch supers... marked for which cylinder theyre in. Which was something my boss used to do when we did compression checks. That means this truck hasnt had plugs in TEN YEARS! And they arent coming out easily. So nayurally the second plug breaks off in the head. After multiple techniques to get the slug out I decided to pull the head and have it checked and everything. I get to the timing cover and the guides...arent there! At all! The lower gear also was missing teeth.
Now, all is well. The head was fine and I got a big parts box from engnbldr and Ive just been running the crap out of the thing.
Still dont know what the plan is other than fenders and a bed, ugh. Oh and by the way the truck was perfect when the farrier bought it.. But oh well, lucky for me!
