just brought her home today. Her name is Orsa - her mom is a Husky/Shepherd, her dad some sort of Jack Russell mix. Don't ask me about the logistics of that.

nope. it's totally outside of that situation. we've been talking about it for a awhile - getting my other dog a buddy. But, if it helps, that's a bonus.
It's a positive distraction. Putting off the conflict may give oct time to find a solution, or time for daughter to get used to the situation. OTOH, it does make the web more complicated if the gf things falls apart.
