3M throttle body cleaner works great as well. IIRC it's also easier on the surrounding sensors. Here's link to a post showing how to clean it without removing it. If done correctly it's entirely possible to clean the back side of the plate. https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=16719&highlight=low+idle+fix

Original post had pics as well but I don't know if they made the transition to the new forum software.

It's about as easy as it gets to do just be careful not to crack the air cleaner hose when removing it.

Where abouts is the throttle body on an 80? And how did you clean it? Also, what substances did you use to clean it?

NYK-

I really think you'd greatly benefit from obtaining an FSM. You obviously have the desire and ambition to do the DYI maintenance. You could probably pick one up from C-Dan for $60 to $70 along with an OEM oil seal for you diff. project. The advice and information on this forum is always there in a pinch, but can not replace/substitute the detailed procedures in the FSM.

I've mentioned it before, and not intending to preach, but I know how helpful it has been for me.
