Hey guys. Ive been creeping on the forum for the last couple weeks. Decided to join the ranks, as i have purchased a used 2000 land cruiser. It champagne pearl, so i call it Goldmember.

I love wheelin', done the mojave road, every single trail in anza borrego, and most in big bear. Had a ford ranger with a bunch of mods, a real trail blazer, but sold it for toyota reliability. Then had a tacoma, had big plans for it, but it got hit and totaled while parked. So... I was about to another tacoma, but started hearing about these land cruisers. Never really considered one to be honest. But the more i researched them, the more interested i became. Got a fam, so the comfort is obviously there, already experienced toyota reliability, but everyone swears that these mammoth machines are (gulp) actually good off road? I drank the cool-aid and bought used 2000 LC on craigslist. 127,000 mi, service records including timing belt, clean carfax, and unmolested.

Was immediately impressed with the quality and luxury of my new (used) purchase. By far, the nicest vehicle i have ever owned. On road, so smooth, ice cold ac, seat heaters, bumpin stereo. so far, so good.

Next test, local trails of san diego. Removed the running boards and set out. Gotta drive on a washboard road to get to some moderate trails. First impression, "what am i doing to this poor luxury vehicle? This is no ranger." Got to the trail and it was immediately apparent that the LC was capable. Took it straight to the most difficult part of the trail, rocky steep climbs and DEEP ruts. This thing drove right thru it! And the center diff wasn't even locked, and it has Michelin street tires! The hype is real. I locked the center diff just to see what it felt like, the word, "unstoppable" comes to mind.

I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Next stop, take the fam to calico. I was thinking about some modifications, but really, this thing absolutely romps offorad. I think im just gonna get a cargo basket on top and call it good for now.

Maybe down the line get some BFG AT tires... OME lift... front bumper... rock sliders... rear bumper... warn winch... KC lights... (oh boy, here we go).

Seriously thou, thanks for having me, excited to join the community. Included some pics of the maiden voyage.
