Just for a 1998 LX470 and want opinions on what type of oi…..(just kidding).
I’ve done a lot with vehicles over the years and two weeks ago a Landcruiser wasn’t vaguely on my radar. I have an 2011 Honda Element with 264k miles that I’ve mostly kept going to (jokingly) spite my family that hates it. I’m kind of drawn to simple, high mileage vehicles (just finishing rehabbing a 1986 BMW airhead). My wife has a 2020 4Runner which she likes. I think it’s completely mediocre in almost every aspect. She had mentioned she had always wanted a Landcruiser and I was thinking about a vehicle change.
I started poking around FB Marketplace Thursday and came across a very clean 1998 LX470 with 240k (originally from FL) with minimal rust, running well, etc. and now it’s in my driveway (drove it 2.5 hours home and can already tell I’m going to love it). I’ll be leveraging this forum a fair bit and hope to contribute as well. Near term plan is to do a timing belt and all associated items while I’m there. Timing belt sticker says it has about 30k to go but date is 2013 so from what I understand it has aged out. I figure doing this will get me acquainted with the car.
Anyway, that’s my story. Looking forward to owning one of these.
