Hi all! my name is karl and I have a 78 FJ40 in brooklyn. just joined GCLC and the mailing list. im in the middle of undoing all of the PO's handiwork and hope to get to a meetup soon and meet all you guys. i will have many questions in the months to come im sure.

the first question: i need a machine shop to reface/plane my manifold. i would love to keep it within the city limits. i read a thread in the clubhouse here that someone knew of a shop in red hook perhaps? any leads would be huge. thanks!

Is this you?

Orange40

I wish! Thats a great color. What n'hood was that in?

so i finally just got my 40 up and running after 3 months of teardown. I found a machinist in brooklyn that resurfaced my manifold for 60bux. excellent price i thought. below is the shops info.

Cool, throw a sticker in the window. Maybe my daughter will see it and say hi.

Check out the winter meeting Jan 25 if you can.

Coal Mine Cruiser Classic - July 16-19 this year. Keep the calendar open.

will do!

i made it to montauk and back for new years!! the 40's first trip since i tore it down and overhauled it. and wow 55mph in a 40 with shot weatherstipping and probably shot springs is a helluva ride. i had one hiccup going each way. the fuel filter got so clogged from crap in the lines/tank i lost power. i just pulled over and shook up the filter. i will now be traveling with a spare from now on. happy new year to you all!

btw, on the way out i saw a guy in an 80's series maybe, full roof rack, lights. gold colored and his license plate was IH8 MUD !!! who was it?!!?

Not a GCLC admin. If it's the truck I think it is, it's a little over the top (but very nice), and very pristine. I might have a picture of it. If I can find it I'll post it.

no they dont, but i sent all my stuff to ever nu metal on 20th street in the south slope. $75/hr for blasting. i deal with frank there. i think he's the owner. nice guy. you will want to pay in cash and avoid taxes.
