Hey everyone. I'm new here and based in Knoxville, TN. Just recently purchased my first Land Cruiser, a 2002. I've wanted a LC since I was in college in the early 2000's and funny enough, I ended up buying one from that same era.

So I have the nav/climate control display (i know) and the LCD touch screen is cracked. The price was good enough that I didn't want to pass on it but needless to say the first project I am taking on is replacing the screen. I pulled the stereo out today to get the part number off the LCD touch screen and must have broken both of little flex clips that hold the ribbon cables in. Not surprised honestly because they were pretty tiny and brittle but now I'm kind of stuck. Since I have the nav/climate control model and can't put the everything back together, the rig is parked until I can replace those two clips and get everything put back together.

Was wondering if anyone knew what these two parts are and where I can purchase them (see photo). I believe one is a 30 pin and the other is a 19 pin but I could be wrong about that.

Good news is I did find a replacement screen on eBay but it won't include these clips.

If those are available for purchase I wouldnt think they would necessarily be toyota specific parts. Maybe search some electrical part places or attempt to do whatever to get those pieces back where they belong somehow.

Edit: FFC (Flat Flexible Cable) connectors is what those seem to be called

The piece you broke is the "bail". Doesn't seem to be sold separately unfortunately. Robbing some off of identical size connector would be a not too easy option. You could maybe try to secure using some type of tape to hold in place.

Thinking about shoving those pieces back in to hopefully secure the connection and then using some sort of glue to hopefully prevent the ribbon from coming back out.

Problem now is I don't want to do anything "permanent" until the new screen comes in which won't be for a couple of weeks. Not even sure I can drive the thing at the moment. Definitely know I won't have any heat until I get this thing repaired.

Maybe a couple dobs of hot glue would hold them in place. I think it would probably be fairly easy to pry off if needed with a pick or blade.

Yeah I think that's probably going to be my best bet at this point.

Good evening. I'm searching for a screen (digitizer) for my 2001. Where did you find your replacement, please? Thx!
