Hello all. I figured that I should introduce myself. My name is Jake and I recently moved to the one horse town that is the Quad Cities from Nashville, TN:hillbilly:. I heard about this forum through 4Rnr on the Pirate Board. I was telling him that I passes Gumby on my way through IL, while I was headed home. I was amazed to see his setup (Truck, Camper/Trailer, Cruiser) in the middle of all this farm land. I ended up stumbling upon a pic of his Cruiser and PM'd 4Rnr.
I am looking for some folks in the area that would like to hang in the garage and drink . Possibly even get some work done on the money pit that is my Truggy. Right now I'm debating 3 or 4 link front suspension, so any help with that would be great. It's good to know people still enjoy Toyotas this close to Detroit. Have a good one, Jake.

Where at in the quad cities....its sorta a huge territory.

I can only think of cons to a 4 link front. Unless your motor isn't in the front....

I live on the Western end of Davenport,IA. I've ordered all my brackets and tabs. My plan is to raise up the engine about 2-3 inches. I've already got a belly pan that has raises up my trans and tcases 2 inches, so raising the engine is long overdue anyhow. My fornt axle is 3.5 inches forward with leaves. I think i'll move the axle forward giving me enough room for the links to breath and still have some triangulation. The lowers are a different story. I'll probably build some outriggers to bring the lower link frame mounts just inside the width of the frame rails.

Why do you want a 4 link front?

3 link should give the same flex with a nice low engine. Frankly the SOA rigs that are set up properly give the same flex with a nice low and simple everything.

Not that there arent other advantages to links and coils. I wouldn't go back to leafs myself.

I want a 4 link because I like the look of it. My current setup uses 1.5" lift RUF w/ redrilled center pins 2" forward w/ a main leaf from a Mazda pack cut down. I have a 2 inch drop hanger and slider boxes. My slider boxes have definitly seen better days! I am open to suggestion on 3 link vs 4 link, but right now I'm thinking 4 simply because I have no experience with a 3 link.

Thanks, Jake

Simpler, cheaper, allows you to stay low, works great.

4link front means you have to stack a large mount 6-10" on the center of the axle, right under the oil pan.

Like I said earlier, I can only think of cons to a triangulated 4 link front.

Ifs. Nice and low when your coils sag from the winch.
