Hi, new here, I have a 1993 80 series 1HD-T diesel, manual.

i think i may be having problems with my fuel pump.

On start up rpm is low, around 550 to 600, even lower when colder (however once warm idles/starts fine). Idle is sometimes higher and sometimes lower than it should be - around 650rpm (so +/- 50 rpm). On occasion the idle drops low to around 500-550 rpm (randomly). Also on occasion the rpm drops to around 500-550 rpm when turning the steering wheel when stationary and not revving (when ac pump is going and turn the wheel, no rev drop!). Could it be fuel filter? Or am i looking at a pump rebuild?

Any ideas? thanks.

Hi,
that sounds to me as if the A/C idle up function ups the rpm a bit and that takes care of the increased power needed to drive the power steering pump.
Also - I would assume that there is a Idle up function for cold starts and probably also the power steering pump - they may not work correctly. I don't think that you at all need to rebuilt the pump. A fresh fuel filter can never be bad, though.

2014?

Oh Yes....
