Hi guys-new here.I mostly deal with rovers but I decided to buy this aussie fj45.I couldn't resist.I think its a great looking rig. Will be shipped here soon.Wont arrive until march.Just wanted to get some specs on what this vehicle has.Its totally original and its a 1972.
Questions
1.what is the engine and what is the hp and torque
2.what are the gear ratios in the diffs
3.is she capable of 65 comfortably on the highway
4.is the 3 speed fully syncromesh
5.what size and type of rims are these
6.will the original rims work with newer tubeless radials

Im looking for a driver-no offroad.Ive read that you can swap in newer fj60-62 3.70 diffs.I know the driveshaft flanges will have to be updated but can I still use my original axel shafts front and rear? Are the splines the same?

Thanks for your help guys-look forward to being part of the crusier crowd.Ive been to the fall gathering twice in my friends fj40.Next year I will try to bring this fj45.Thanks! jim:beer:

You found a rare aussie to have a bed rather than a tray, looks to be in pretty good shape. The engine is an "F", 236 c.i. IIRC. I don't recall the hp and torque, but it may be in the faq. It's enough to get around, just not in a hurry.
It has 4.11 diffs and the 3.70s will swap in with no mods except the flange.(FJ-62s have 4.11s, fj-60s have 3.70s). You will need to get different flanges (the flanges on the '72 diffs will not fit the fj-60 diffs because of spline count) or swap half of the driveshaft to match the flanges (the slip yokes are the same as fj-60, so it is an easy swap) If you are going to run 33" tires, or maybe even 31s, I'm not sure you want 3.70s with a 3 speed.
she should cruise at 65 fine, but it will not be a quiet ride.
the 3 speed is not synchromesh in 1st gear
those are 16" split rims and they will not run tubeless tires. Sell them and put stock 15" rims or aftermarket rims on it, it is hard to find places to service split rims.

congrats and good luck!
