Hey, new to the site and Toyota/lexus ownership. Just bought an 05’ GX470 and staring to do a maintenance overhaul. Will probably have some questions/searches along the way. Current plan is to just get the engine stuff done, then move on to dif fluids, trans, and suspension work. Only real concern with rig right now is a slight squeak when window is rolled down, maybe wheel bearing?

New oem thermostat
Sequoia alternator 150a instead of GX470 130a
Hayden 698 transmission cooler if you gonna tow or rock crawl

Great looking rig as well! Very clean, great find.

Looks clean! Mileage on it?

I got my 05 two years ago this month. I bought it with 191k miles and now im at 196k.

Major things that Ive done
-valve cover gaskets
-both from CV axles

Ive currently got a parts pile ill start chipping away at next week
-full aluminum radiator (CSF) (will obviously do a coolant flush - will also start trans flush at the same time)
-Hayden trans cooler (we started towing a camp trailer this year with the GX)
-new thermostat
-pcv valve + new hose with it
-serpentine belt

Im also on the original airbags.. I plan on replacing them this coming year as preventative.. dont want to blow a bag while towing!

welcome! that is one clean looking GX!

check your suspension bushings for tears. At this age, more than likely your bushings are cracked or torn if they haven't been replaced already.

Yea, same on airbags for me, maybe a future project. I hadn’t heard about the Hayden trans cooler, thanks!

Thanks! Never thought of that but I’m sure you’re right.

Welcome to the club, I will pass on a tip that was passed to me from this site. If you need parts check your local dealer for their price and then check out Bell Lexus in Scottsdale Az, ps they ship for free over a hundred dollars. I saved over half with them. I did it on the 4th of July sale, so timing is critical or call them and ask if it adjust much?
