Thanks for the tip on the pictures. More pics to come as soon as I get the time. Today I will finish up by adding some tweeter mounts on the cage and painting it.

That is a sweet looking cage you got there, I'm in Buena Park but my inlaws are in Rosemead. Its nice to know theirs a fabber close by who knows cruisers.

Nice rig. Come join our Trailcrew meeting, 1st Tuesday of every month off the 210 in Sun Valley. We have a few wagons and yours would fit in perfectly. Let me know.

How much for a parts cage kit if I provide the material? I'd love to make a cage exactly like that but my bending skills are horrid. My truck will be very similar when finished, SOA, 35's locked F&R, but just stock engine. I'm jealous. :D

cage is looking good, I am guessing the drive train came out of a SSS or a Caddy.

You should not have let us know that. Now we are going to hold your work up to a higher standard.... Look at the INTI rack for inspiration. There are a few threads about them, I do not have one but the people that do, love them. Might give you some ideas.

dave

Your cage is georgeous, very nice.
I imagine your amps hope you never set it over on that side:p

When you say you've been eating up birfs, do you mean stock birfs...

Longfield Super Axles

For the most part this link is what folks will suggest along with inner seals from...

Marlin Crawler, Inc.

and a front knuckle rebuild kit from...

Cruiser Outfitters

I am aiming for the long fields, and then I will see what breaks next, maybe the U joints, or ring and pinion, the power of the skinny pedal is some times very tempting to show off.

Ancient Chinese Secret...

Sorry, couldn't resist

One more Mudder saying nice work! I've not seen too many internal cages on the board here; yours looks good!

I have the same Q that GLTH does, how'd you get it in there so close? (Perhaps I'll get the same answer he did!)

BTW, I'm a beige FJ62 guy, too!

The answer is to insert a piece of sheet metal and cardboard and use the mig welder, also clean the metal so it does not spark much. I designed the cage to be installer friendly, the tubes come a little taller so you cut to the size you choose, some may not be able to weld in a tight environment other may so I leave up to the installer to decide. Another method to get a clean look is to install the headliner over the cage, when you look up you see your headliner only and not the cage. This method requires you to re do the headliner but its very how do you say, cool. And thanks for the kind words. Plenty of friendly people here.

Nice work, I bet you have a lot of time in that! I would love to see a pic with the headliner installed under the cage.

Thanks. Takes about 36 hours to complete, that's including the removal of the whole interior (carpet, seats, panels etc.) regarding the headliner we'll have to wait for someone to install it that way.

Power and birfs

Two birfs in one day, so much fun to change them in the desert heat. With help from friends I managed to find seals and a couple of spares birfs for the rest of the outing. One broke as I was going up a sandy hill, straight up no turns, engaged the ARB and voila. The second that was my fault, going down a 3 foot embankment and wheels turned. Longfields in my future I know.
