Hello all, great site here with loads of information. Just a short bio.. So I've never owned a V8 or a 4WD, but have I've wanted a SUV for a while and now ready to purchase. I've went from 4runner, tahoe, denali and have decided on a LC. I love the new gen 4runner body style but want V8 power.

So following my intro, I want to ask a newb question. I've seen some LC's with different fenders. I'm not sure about the aesthetic look of these fenders because I haven't seen them in person. Opinions as far as looks?

You'll get a ton of different opinions.

I personally think it looks misplaced on a stock rig like that.

Put some beefy 33x12.5s or larger tires on her (~35mm offset so the tires are not so inset), and the tires and fenders will complement each other nicely.

If you ever decide to add a steel bumper, the flares make it more complicated.

Opinions will vary. Up to you and personal preference.

-Personally not a fan unless they actually open up your fender space. The ones pictured are just added bulk with no real benefit so it’s less appealing.

Nothing weird or taboo though. Just personal preference. :)

I took mine off the week after I bought the rig, if that tells you anything.

just something to fall off. but then again, there was someone on here doing a deliberate search for some (there's a thread about it somewhere), so if you like them, go for it.

Folks here (me included) don't go in much for stickers, fender shaped or otherwise.

However, there is a healthy looks and appearances mod crowd, and it's your truck (future truck?) so you can and should do what you want with it. As @TeCKis300 said, if you go for tires then fender modding is likely (these flares won't help, but there are other flares that will).

Arctic Trucks is usually the starting point, similar available from other vendors.

Everybody's got their opinion, so here's mine:

The flares aren't bad but they aren't great. Most non-enthusiasts probably wouldn't notice the flares one way or the other. The 200 is a bit slab-sided, so the flares can help alleviate that some. But the overall shape of these particular flares doesn't flow nearly as well the flares on an 80 series LC. 100 series flares had the same problem. They just kinda look stuck-on.

So, yeah, I'm guessing from your question that you are on the fence about them too. :meh: Not a big deal either way.

Personally, I’d love to add moderate, but real flares...like a slightly rolled set of front fenders. This would actually be functional and helpful.

Beyond that...the stick-ons remind me of the early Escalades...that we’re basically a Tahoe or Suburban with a lot of stick-on plastic. They were terrible. Cadillac finally build their own bodies...but at first, they looked about as legit as stick-on, fake hood-scooos.

(Uh oh...I guess my personal bias showed a lot more in this post...) :hillbilly:
