As for size, its important because even Apple is rumored tobe releasing a large sized phone in the iPhone 6

Yes, this bring the grand total of possible sizes to 3. I for one am tired of buying s*** that is always universal fit because someone wants a phone the size of Homer's Odyssey. When form and function fits, I'm happy. This isn't my project nor my call. I'm just giving my two cents.

This thread has digressed. Lets get it back on track kiddos. I like the pocket to be bigger even if I have a simple ole HTC One. Having that spot to put my wallet in with my phone is perfect. I hate digging into my pocket everytime to get it out to retrieve my ID to give to the gate guard.

I don't have a lot of room to work with. I maxed out the length as much as I could. I might be able to squeeze another 1/8"-1/4" out of it at most. The further I go out with the side pocket then the further the cup holder moves towards the dash/stereo. One thing I want to avoid is interference with large drinks hitting the dash. I will go out to lunch today and get the largest drink they have. I think Carl's has the 42ounce drink which is stupid big. If it clears and I have space left over then I will add that to the pocket.

I have a request from the LandCruiser guys with the gray colored dash. I need a piece from your interior to color match. Is there any small piece of plastic in your 80's that is the gray color and can be easily removed? I'm trying different colors for the brown and gray. I have found some that I think are close, but I need the gray plastic in my hands to compare. I have just been using pics from this site to help color match the interior. I own an LX so I have the brown to look at. Maybe the fuse box cover is the gray? If I can't get a perfect color match I can always use the bronze rustoleum (which is a perfect match) for all the brown interiors. If I can't find a perfect match to the gray interior, does anyone know if there is a spray paint that is a perfect match?

Jeebus..... This cup holder project is going the way of a lot of peoples projects on 'MUD. Everyone bombards the OP with special requests. I realize he asked for feedback, but dang.

That said, I can fit 4 of my phones in there.

What happened to "the smaller the phone the better?"

Yes it is. Mine is currently fallen off...if one of your nearby folks doesn't have one, I'll gladly mail mine out...you can send it back with my cupholder :D

If I can't find a local piece then I will send you a PM and we can go from there.

I have the plastic seat bracket covers that I don't need after the extension install. They are the same color as the dash but they are plastic not the vinyl material. I don't need em so you can keep em if you need em.

I have the designs finished and have made rough prototypes to get perfect fitment for everything. I am now in the middle of upgrading my 3d printer to handle these much longer prints. Somehow my new heater and fan combo are causing the machine to trip a fuse. I need to now upgrade that. I am also looking at different types of plastic to see if I can get these long prints without all the issues. I'm looking at t-glass, nylon "bridge", and HIPS. I have a small spool of all 3 and as soon as my machine is up and running again I will figure out which filament is best for this application and start making a batch. My guess is that I'm about 1-2 weeks out from making a batch and another week before they show up on my ETSY site. So 2-3 weeks before they are ready to sell. I'm going as fast as I can, but these 20+ hour prints have thrown me a LOT of new challenges.

I'll wait , been without one almost 4 yrs now n.n , let me know how to get a double cup holder on the first batch , im ready to order , my lc has the grey interior ;)

Does etsy charge per sale?

Yes. There is a charge to post on etsy for each item (but it's only like $.20). Then there is a 2-3% charge per transaction. Then most guys use paypal which charges me another fee in the process. That's a fee I had not counted on.

I bet you could sell a ton on the forums, thereby eliminating the etsy fee. You could still post it there on etsy, but if you sell direct here, you avoid that 2-3%

Any hope of getting a TOYOTA badge for my 95 anytime soon? I don't really need a cupholder and my cell phone stays in my pocket where I'm not tempted to answer it while I'm driving, but I'd sure like a new grille blingy thingy...FJ font to fit a 95-97 grille please!

All the badges sold out on his website?

Nope, different thing altogether.

The "TOYOTA" badges are also super long prints. The files are done and I finally got perfect fitment on my prototyes. My issue is that I had to do the fastest setting (very rough) to be able to get good prototypes. When I use the fine settings the 10-12 hours prints turn into 20-25 hour prints and I run into the same issues as the cupholders. So these upgrades aren't just for the cupholders, they are also for the "TOYOTA" badges. The cupholders and toyota badges are now my main focus. While my machine was waiting on new parts/upgrades I kept it running doing the "80" badges. I didn't see any reason not to keep the machine going full time while I was waiting on parts. The "80" badges are up on my etsy site now.

Sweet! Can't wait!(but I will, of course!)
